Portuguese wines are a combination of cultural heritage from ancient civilizations, from the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks and specially the Romains. Portugal is a small country but concentrates a great range of different climes and grapes. This results in a great variety of wines, with different profiles - since the high altitudes freshness to the hot plains lands full body wines. Also, different techniques are use from ancient methods resulting in different type of wines, like the Vinho Verde, the wine from Colares, the Moscatel, and on and on.
